Midland Park school district hires Norwood's superintendent

MIDLAND PARK — Kevin Ulmer, superintendent of the Norwood school district, has been named superintendent of the 883-student Midland Park district.

Ulmer, 46, succeeds Marie Cirasella, who is retiring after 14 years with the district. He will assume his duties on July 1, said board President Brian McCourt.

Ulmer holds a bachelor's degree from Providence College and a master's in educational leadership and administration from Montclair State University.

He previously served as a teacher in Rochelle Park and as a teacher, assistant principal and principal with Mahwah Township Public Schools. He was named Norwood superintendent in 2021.

The Midland Park district includes three schools: Godwin Elementary for grades pre-K to two on East Center Street, Highland Elementary for grades three to six on Highland Avenue, and Midland Park Jr./Sr. High School for grades seven to 12 on Prospect Street.

Ulmer's starting salary will be $218,000.
