Middleburg woman accused of strangling another woman in Lewis Township

May 17—LEWIS TOWNSHIP — A Middleburg woman allegedly strangled another woman after arguing about a dog on May 12, according to state police in Milton.

Brianna Lynn Fowler, 25, of Weller Hill Road, Middleburg, was charged with a felony count of strangulation; a misdemeanor count of simple assault; and a summary count of harassment. The charges were filed by state Trooper Bradley Derk, of the Milton State Police Barracks, in the Mifflinburg office of District Judge Jeffrey Mensch.

Derk responded to a home on Orchard Road in Lewis Township at 6:21 p.m. May 12. The victim said she and Fowler were arguing about Fowler's dog when Fowler allegedly lunged toward the victim and pushed her onto the couch in the living room, police said.

Fowler then allegedly wrapped her hands around the victim's neck and choked her for 90 seconds. Police identified red marks on the left side of the victim's neck, according to court documents.

A witness who pulled Fowler off the victim corroborated the victim's story. The witness described the length of time being five minutes, police said.

Fowler was arraigned on Sunday and bail was set at $5,000 unsecured. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 4 p.m. June 4 in front of Mensch.
