Mid-Hudson Valley weather: Power now restored for many in Sullivan County

Power has now been restored to many of the thousands of homes and businesses who lost it during a winter storm Wednesday in the mid-Hudson region.

As of mid-morning Thursday, New York State Electric and Gas said power is still out for 2,811 of its customers in Sullivan County.

The company is still assessing some of the damage and restoration times for many of those outages are not available yet.

In Ulster County, 145 NYSEG customers are without power. In Dutchess County, 430 NYSEG customers are without power. Only three customers in Orange County are still without power, according to NYSEG's outage tracker.

Power outages reported across Sullivan, Ulster counties

Orange and Rockland Utilities reported that 2,276 of its Sullivan County customers had lost power as of just before 5 p.m. Wednesday, but that number was down to 290 Thursday morning.

Only 39 Central Hudson customers in Sullivan County are still without power, while 152 customers in Ulster County are still powerless.

Weather outlook in Sullivan County, NY

The National Weather Service said a flood watch is in effect for Sullivan County until Thursday evening.

A winter weather advisory in the county remains in effect until 4 a.m. Friday, although no additional snow is currently forecast.

The National Weather Service had also issued a hazardous weather outlook for eastern and southern Dutchess County, as well as western Ulster County from Tuesday night through Thursday.
