ARDMORE, Pa. (AP) — Phil Mickelson's 3-under round of 67 held up as U.S. Open players returned to complete the first round, which was interrupted by storms and darkness.

Luke Donald and Mathew Goggin were one shot back after the first round ended Friday. Donald missed a short par putt at No. 18, but he was soon back on the course for his second round and took the lead with a chip-in at No. 13.

Tiger Woods shot a first-round 73, and his wrist appeared to be fine. Woods winced and shook his left arm when playing out of the rough on Thursday, but he showed no obvious discomfort when hitting from the high grass Friday morning.
