Michigan's Cannabis Regulatory Agency recalls Flavor Galaxy's infused pre-rolled joints

Michigan's Cannabis Regulatory Agency is recalling infused pre-rolled joints made by the Hazel Park-based cannabis producer Flavor Galaxy, the agency said Wednesday.

The agency is recalling more than 1,000 units of infused pre-rolled joints after it found Flavor Galaxy added cannabis distillate (THC oil) and/or terpenes (aromatic compounds found within cannabis flowers) to the joints after they had already been tested by a lab. The joints subject to the recall were sold between Nov. 25, 2023, and May 6, 2024, at dispensaries such as Olswell Cannabis Co.'s stores in Adrian and Grand Rapids and Herbology Cannabis Co. in River Rouge, among other stores across the state.

The CRA also found that Flavor Galaxy added marijuana product to numerous packages of infused pre-rolled joints and vape cartridges after the packages had been tested by a licensed laboratory and those products were not properly tracked in the statewide monitoring system.

An email was sent Wednesday to a Flavor Galaxy representative seeking comment.

The action comes as concerns have been raised over substances being added to the cannabis oil that's used in edibles and vape pens. The CEO of a cannabis testing company with a lab in Michigan recently said that more than 30% of marijuana vape pens and edibles his lab tested contained a diluting agent, a synthetically converted cannabis oil or pesticides.

The CRA said consumers should discard or return these joints to the dispensary where they were purchased for proper disposal.

Consumers who have experienced adverse reactions after using the joints or vape carts should report their symptoms and product use to their health care providers, the agency said.

Consumers also are encouraged to report any adverse reactions to the products to the CRA by completing an "Adverse Reaction Reporting Form" that can be found on the agency's website or by phone at 517-284-8599, the CRA said.

A full list of the recalled infused pre-rolled joints, as well as a list of the joints and vape carts with added marijuana product and not properly tracked in the system, can be found by going to Michigan.gov/CRA/Bulletins. The list can be searched by using the Metrc tag numbers.
