Michigan CB Nate Johnson dismissed after arrest (UPDATED)

Michigan announced Saturday that cornerback Nate Johnson has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities. On Monday, we learned why.
According to multiple outlets, Johnson was arrested early Saturday morning in an alleged domestic violence incident. He faces one count of misdemeanor domestic violence. Per MLive.com, Johnson and the woman involved “were in a dating relationship.”
“A little after 2 a.m. (on Sept. 30) one of our housing security officers found a female student outside South Quad residence hall and she reported she had been assaulted,” Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security spokesperson Diane Brown said Monday. “We located the male nearby and placed him under arrest for domestic violence and took him to jail.”
He is being charged with one count of domestic violence and is scheduled to appear in front of Judge Elizabeth Pollard Hines on Oct. 11 in Ann Arbor. Johnson was released from jail on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond. After being arrested in the early morning hours Saturday, Michigan’s athletic department announced Johnson’s suspension from the team at 2:07 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
Johnson, a sophomore, played wide receiver in 2016 and appeared in three games. He had one catch for four yards. Entering 2017, Johnson moved to cornerback but had not appeared in a game this season for the Wolverines.
Michigan, which had a bye over the weekend, is 4-0 and ranked No. 7 in the country heading into this weekend’s home game against Michigan State.
