Michelle Obama: 'Let's Move!' Initiative is Not 'Big Government'

Michelle Obama responded to those who criticize her efforts to get children to eat healthier and exercise as “big government,” saying on Tuesday she’s simply giving “tools and information” to help parents make decisions.

The First Lady appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America promoting her book “American Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America,” out today, and responded to a question about whether her “Let’s Move!” initiative was big government intruding in people’s lives.

“This isn't about government telling people what to do,” she said.  “What we know we need to do is give parents, communities and families the tools and information they need to make choices that are right for them. And there’s no one-size-fits-all solution.”
