Michael Kors slides, J.Jill jumps, Apple's summer release

Here’s a look at some of the stocks the Yahoo Finance team will be watching for you today. Retailers are back in the headlines.

Michael Kors (KORS) shares tumbled in early trading. The luxury retailer gave a dismal outlook for the year after it swung to a net loss last quarter and sales fell more than 11%. The company also plans to shut down 100 full-price stores over the next two years as it tries to revive its brand.

Elsewhere in the retail space, shares of Vera Bradley (VRA) are also having a tough time this morning. Even though the handbag and accessories retailer reported a smaller-than-expected loss for the first quarter, revenue missed estimates as sales fell 8.6% to $96.1M.

On the flipside, shares of J.Jill (JILL) were sharply higher in early trading, closing in on its IPO price of $13 a share when it went public in March. The clothing retailer raised its outlook for the year after posting a beat on both its top and bottom lines last quarter. Same store sales improved jumping 9.9% and revenue rose 12.5% to $166.1M.

And Apple (AAPL) is in the spotlight. The tech giant will finally release its version of James Corden’s popular “Carpool Karaoke” to Apple music subscribers on August 8. The series was originally supposed to premiere in April.
