Michael Jackson's Doctor Is Found Guilty
Dr. Conrad Murray was found guilty in Michael Jackson's involuntary manslaughter case today. The verdict concludes a six-week trial which has become a media staple. "Conrad Murray caused the death of Michael Jackson!" said deputy DA David Walgren during in his closing arguments last week, which The New York Post noted. Murray, a cardiologist, was Jackson's personal physician in 2009 and paid $150,000 per month just when Jackson was gearing up for a bevy of comeback concerts reports ABC. He didn't testify during the trial, but Murray did tell police that he supplied Jackson propofol, an anesthetic, the morning that the Jackson died, reported the AP. Murray could lose his medical license and face up to four years in prison but could be shortened due to jail overcrowding in California, reported the New York Daily News. The trial's had a high profile (understandably so, considering this is the King of Pop) from the start and built in recent weeks due to its conflicting dates with the Michael Jackson tribute concert, to family member responses and feuds, to the fan outrage. "Somebody’s got to say it: If it were anybody else but Michael Jackson, if it were anybody else, would this doctor be here today?" defense attorney Ed Chernoff told jurors, reports the Los Angeles Times.
