In 2014 a mysterious buyer set a record that still holds when he paid $100.47 million for a penthouse on Manhattan’s Billionaire’s Row - and now he's been identified as tech billionaire Michael Dell.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Dell, whose net worth Forbes estimates at $23.3 billion, bought the 10,923-square-foot property on the 89th and 90th floors of One57, located at 157 West 57th Street in Midtown.

The apartment includes six bedrooms and six bathrooms, and Dell, who bought it through a limited-liability company, hired Miró Rivera Architects to oversee a renovation of the property, according to Department of Buildings filings cited by the Journal.

While the deal now has the record as the most expensive home ever sold in New York, it may not hold that status for long. Hedge-fund billionaire Ken Griffin is reportedly in contract to purchase a penthouse at a new development a few blocks away, 220 Central Park South. The reported potential sale price? More than $200 million.
