Michael Clemente Exits Fox News
Michael Clemente has been axed at Fox News, where he had overseen the specials and longform division only since April. Also out is his No. 2, Peter Boyer.
Fox News confirmed the two exits, which come on the heels of last week’s abrupt resignation of Roger Ailes as Fox News chief in the wake of a sexual harassment lawsuit filed against him by former show host Gretchen Carlson. A source with knowledge of the matter said today’s cuts were unrelated, adding that Fox News Channel plans to do fewer long form specials between now and the election.
Clemente had been EVP of News Editorial until April, when he was “very much sidelined” according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Clemente was replaced by Jay Wallace, and moved to oversee the specials/longform division. Clemente joined Fox News in 2009 after nearly three decades at ABC News. Boyer had joined FNC in ’12. Their last day was today. The division, however, had not been shuttered and it’s expected a replacement for Clemente will be named.
