Miami TE Christopher Herndon to have knee surgery
Miami will be without one of its top offensive options for the ACC title game and beyond.
The school announced Sunday that tight end Christopher Herndon, a senior, will have surgery after injuring the medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee in the loss to Pittsburgh on Friday. The injury will end his collegiate career.

Herndon is second on the team with 40 catches for 477 yards and four touchdowns, all career highs. For his Miami career, Herndon totaled 86 catches, 1,048 yards and seven touchdowns.
With Herndon out, Miami will likely turn to Michael Irvin II at tight end in the ACC title game against Clemson on Saturday.
The Hurricanes dropped their first game of the year on Friday on the road at Pittsburgh. However, Miami still has a path to the College Football Playoff if it beats the Tigers in Charlotte.
