If the AP poll is any indication, Miami will be the No. 2 team in the College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday.

The Hurricanes jumped up five spots to No. 2 after beating the previously No. 3 Irish 41-8 on Saturday night. Oklahoma moved to No. 3 after easily dispatching TCU at home while Clemson stayed at No. 4.

Of course, the AP poll is probably not a harbinger of things to come in the CFP rankings. Alabama has been No. 1 in the AP poll and No. 2 in the College Football Playoff rankings. The Tide survived on the road at Mississippi State on Saturday. The Bulldogs actually moved up from No. 18 to No. 17 despite the loss.

Georgia was the No. 1 team in the CFP rankings and No. 2 in the AP poll. The Bulldogs fell all the way to No. 7 in the AP poll after losing to Auburn. The Tigers are now at No. 6, ahead of Georgia, even though they have two losses.
