The Miami Dolphins will be hosting their rookie minicamp next weekend. Finally, we’ll get to see what this new rookie class is made of and if they have what it takes to be in the NFL. Now even though it’s a small dosage of seeing what the rookies can do, it is exciting and all this does is build up more momentum for the season.

Usually, the rookie minicamp consists of vigorous on the field drills, working out, and other on-field exercises. However, this rookie mini-camp will not be the same as others in the past.

This up and coming rookie minicamp will consist of “classroom work, meetings as well as discussions on everything that comes with being an NFL player, including dealing with the media. Rookies will be spending time with coaches, as well as members of the player development program, sports science, and nutrition”.

I know this doesn’t mean much, but I love the Miami Dolphins new approach. As a rookie, things in the NFL can be obscured. You have to know how to carry yourself and be aware at all times of things and places around you. The fact that the Dolphins want to teach that to these young players is absolutely brilliant.

Why go out on the field and be a deer in headlights when you can be in the classroom studying the playbook and being sharp mentally for this game which requires you to be mentally sound if you want to succeed. It seems that new head coach Adam Gase is not taking any chances and is expecting that all of his players such as rookies and veterans to be ready when things get rolling this season.

There’s a saying that holds true for almost everything and anything in life. “Sometimes, little things make a big difference”. In the Miami Dolphins case, the coaching staff is making sure that there are no excuses this season after the excuses and blown assignments last season.

So far it looks like everyone is on the same page which is a relief. I don’t know what it is but something is surely different about this new coaching staff and so far I like what I’m hearing and seeing. Hopefully this will bring more wins both this season and all the future seasons we will have.
