The ongoing debate among some in NFL circles for years has been about age. While some believe that an older, more veteran focused roster is the way to go others claim that youth — despite their inexperience — gives the team the skill and talent it needs to win. For Miami Dolphins’ fans, hopefully the latter argument is the correct one.

Projecting the starting offensive skill players for each team across the NFL, Philadelphia centered website Philly Voice has given the Dolphins the youngest offense in the league. I will also add that these rankings do not include offensive lineman as they do not qualify as skill players.

According to Philly Voice the Miami Dolphins will be entering the 2016 NFL season with an average offensive skill player age of 24.5-years old. While they are only two tenths younger than the second youngest team in the Philadelphia Eagles, the Dolphins are one of only five teams with an average age under 25.

Taking a closer look at the projections for the Dolphins depth chart, the results become even more clearer. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill (27), running back Jay Ajayi (23), wide receivers Kenny Stills (24), Jarvis Landry (23), DeVante Parker (23), and tight end Jordan Cameron (27).

As you can see from the above the Miami Dolphins have an extremely young offense. The oldest players projected to start are Ryan Tannehill and Jordan Cameron who are both an elderly 27-years of age. Overall though, the receiving corps and backfield will be the youngest across the board with most of these skill players just a couple of years into the league.

Again though, the age of old question of older vs younger players will be up-for-debate before the season begins. With an experienced offensive line in front of them though, the Dolphins should have a very good blocking system. Outside of first round draft pick Laremy Tunsil the rest of the offensive line has a vast amount of experience in the NFL.

Depending on how well these youngsters — especially some of the unproven ones — begin to develop as their career’s progress, the Miami Dolphins may have one of the best offenses in the NFL very soon. However, should they falter, it could answer the age old question of whose better between older and younger players.
