Coming off of last week’s momentum building and morale boosting win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Miami Dolphins enter a vital week in their 2016 campaign. While I would say the playoffs are likely out of reach at this point, a respectable season is not. While that hard fought win over the Steelers was great for both the team and the fanbase, this week’s game presents the Miami Dolphins with a chance to make a statement.

Taking on the AFC East rival Buffalo Bills this Sunday, the Dolphins can issue a major statement to both the remaining teams on their schedule and the team’s fans. Proving to the league that the Miami Dolphins are not just the bottom feeder most thought they were, the Dolphins game on Sunday is a chance to change the course of the team’s 2016 campaign.

Entering the contest, the Bills have won their last four games in row. This comes after the team started the season with back-to-back losses. Knocking Buffalo down a couple notches this week, why can’t the Dolphins pull off a similar feat. Sure we started absolutely rotten, but why can’t we finish strong? Why can’t we be a playoff contender?

Assisting the Dolphins this week in their divisional matchup, the Bills enter the contest down quite a few key players. Star running back LeSean McCoy is likely out for Sunday’s contest. Sammy Watkins is on injured reserve while fellow wide receiver Robert Woods has been in a walking boot the entire week.

Going against this shorthanded Bills offense, the Miami defense should be able to keep the opponents scoring to a minimum. For me, the matchup of the game will be the Dolphins offense versus the Bills defense.

If wee see the same offensive attack and protection as last week, I believe the Miami Dolphins can leave this game with the W. However, the Bills defense is sack and turnover machine. All it will take is one mistake and the Bills defense can and will take advantage.

Quoting my favorite childhood movie — and still favorite to this day — Independence Day, “We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We’re going to live on! We’re going to survive!” This Sunday’s game for the Miami Dolphins is their chance to make statement. This season is not over and we are not going to be a pushover team anymore.
