FIU, Barry, Miami Dade College suspend classes as Eta approaches. UM goes online
Three of South Florida’s universities have suspended Monday’s classes across the board as Tropical Storm Eta approaches while the fourth moved all classes online.
Miami Dade College: On Saturday, MDC announced all classes, online and in-person, and college operations will be closed on Sunday and Monday in an abundance of caution, the college said. No deciscion has been made on Tuesday classes.
FIU: FIU announced Sunday all campuses would be closed Monday and classes are canceled. But some parking is open.
“Members of the university community and neighbors are welcome to park their vehicles on levels 2 through 4 of FIU parking garages,” the school said in an email.
University of Miami: Monday’s in-person classes on the Coral Gables and Marine campuses will be held online as will classes normally held online.
The Student Center Complex will close at 4 p.m. Sunday and won’t reopen until Tuesday, at the earliest. Campus dining halls will close at 7 p.m. Sunday, but there will be more takeout options. UM says “resident dining will resume operations at 11 a.m. Monday.”
Barry University: All “classes, events and operations” in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach are shut down until at least Tuesday.
