What’s that falling from the sky? South Florida areas pounded by hail during storms
Strong storms passed through Miami-Dade and Broward counties Wednesday, bringing hail to some parts of South Florida.
At 5:45 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a significant Weather Advisory for North Miami-Dade and South Broward counties. NWS warned of wind gusts over 45 mph, funnel clouds possibly appearing and small hailing falling.
Residents took to social media to document a weather phenomenon that isn’t as common as South Florida’s constant rain showers.
Never in my life have I seen hail in Miami until today. pic.twitter.com/qgzVvALiaD

From southern Broward to Miami Beach, people were a little shocked to see hail outside their doors.

These storms in South Florida are mirroring a summer pattern. Later on in the day, the weather service issued a marine warning from the shores of Key Biscayne to Bay Harbor Islands, and from the shores of Deerfield Beach to Gulf Stream.
Southeast Palm Beach also had a flood advisory issued and meteorologist say one to two inches of rain had fallen on already saturated ground.
As summer and hurricane season begin, rain storms won’t be becoming less frequent.
