New Mexico has new absentee ballot tracker

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico’s secretary of state has announced a new system to track absentee ballots. The new system brings transparency to the upcoming primary election.

“With our new ballot tracking system we’ve improved upon our existing system by now offering more information to voters about where exactly their absentee ballot is in the mailing process and giving voters the ability to sign up for email or text notifications so they always know the status of their mailed ballot,” Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver said in a press release.

The system is called “Ballot Scout.” Absentee voters can access Ballot Scout from this link after they’ve submitted an absentee ballot. Voters will have to submit their information exactly as it appears on their voter registration, the Secretary of State notes.

Any qualified voter can vote via absentee ballot. The deadline to request an absentee ballot for the upcoming primary election is Tuesday, May 21. Requests can be made at NMVOTE.org.
