This Mexican singer is no stranger to Central Valley; he’ll headline Save Mart Center concert

Mexican singer Erick Aragón – better known as Codiciado – is bringing his ‘Ando Enfocado US Tour’ to the Central Valley with a May 4 stop at the Save Mart Center.

The musician kicked off the first leg of his tour on April 26 at the Hard Rock Live Sacramento as part of his first, solo headlining tour in the United States and spoke with Vida en el Valle not only about his solo tour, but about starting over as soloist and his recent visits to the Valley.

While this will be Codiciado’s first performance at the Save Mart Center, he is no stranger to Fresno or the Valley.

Codido already knew Fresno and on one of his most recent visits at the beginning of April, he went to eat seafood at the restaurant El 701 Mariscos & Sushi Sinaloa Style.

“Very delicious, and we went to do a promo. The truth is I have a very calm time and I have several friends there in Fresno,” he said.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a get-together with friends without the ‘carnita asada’.

Codiciado, who is paving the way for the new regional wave, recently joined forces with La Campesina radio station to honor agricultural workers in Fresno County making an April 19 stop in Reedley to bring a hot lunch to a selected crew of farmworkers.

“This partnership is deeply personal to me,” says Codiciado, who was once part of the farmworker community himself. “I understand the challenges faced by farmworkers because I have walked in their shoes. It is an honor to be able to give back to the community that shaped me and supported me throughout my journey.”

The event in Reedley also included Family Healthcare Network and Restaurante El Pescador to deliver a hot meal and information about available community resources and services.

Starting over as soloist

Codiciado opened about the transition from being part of the group to soloist and continuing to give what the public wants.

“I think the most difficult thing was knowing that a project was over and that you had to jump to another,” Codiciado said. “Because literally, even though you’re already successful or you’re already known, you start over, you know? Because your group colleagues are no longer there, and many fans were there perhaps for the Group.”

While it was difficult starting over, Codiciado said “it was a very nice, very big challenge, that after one year of being a soloist we started to have our first songs. And we are very happy and very grateful to the entire public.”

Codiciado said he believed that everything was going to work out, did not put down the pen and the music continued to flow.

“Very happy with all my team, everything, all my people. It’s a new stage (as an artist) but we are enjoying it to the fullest,” said the Tijuana-born singer who is bringing his live show to major cities across the nation, including San Diego and Ontario, wrapping up in Phoenix, at the Arizona Financial Theatre.

But what can fans expect from Codiciado’s solo concert after five years of not performing in the U.S.?

A couple of surprises, he said without giving those away.

“I think there are many people who stayed listening to the Grupo Codiciado’s music then,” said Codiciado, who was formerly the driving force behind the hugely successful Grupo Codiciado. “And the transition we had now to Codiciado, I think they are going to have a great time listening to the songs we had before with the group and the ones we have now as soloists.”

Codiciado, who launched his solo career in 2021, has released a string of chart-topping hits, including “Bélico El Asunto” in collaboration with Grupo Arriesgado and the viral sensation “Vamos Aclarando Muchas Cosas,” with more than 201 million YouTube views.

His music sound is a unique blend of soulful melodies and Latin rhythms and incorporates elements of jazz, funk, reggae, & hip hop.

The regional Mexican artist has been making music for more than 10 years and has established himself as a leader in the Latin music industry collaborating with some of the biggest names in the music industry.

Codiciado’s music transcends borders, reflecting the realities of immigrant life through powerful lyrics that shared stories of struggle and aspirations.

“I am very happy and very grateful for the support that my audience is giving me there. We’re going to have a good time,” said Codiciado, whose music delves into relatable themes of life, love, and overcoming challenges, resonating deeply with audiences of all ages.
