UPDATE: Mexican citizen charged for allegedly abducting 15-year-old girl in Ohio

UPDATE 1:21 P.M. 3/6/2024 BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – New details have been learned in the investigation of a Mexican citizen who allegedly kidnapped a 15-year-old girl in Ohio and was then arrested in Bedford County.

The Ohio Butler County Sheriff says the young kidnapping victim is from Honduras and was living with a sponsor in the City of Middletown, Ohio. It is believed that she and Isauro Garcia Cruz were allegedly involved in a “relationship.”

Details regarding when Cruz kidnapped the victim are currently unknown; however, the investigation led detectives to Bedford County, where the missing girl was found on Monday, March 4.

Cruz has been arrested for warrants out of Ohio for felony kidnapping, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, gross sexual imposition, interference with custody, as well as, contributing to a minor for having consensual sexual intercourse with a child 15 years of age or older, and contributing to the delinquency of a child, in Bedford County.

Investigators with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio have told WFXR News that Cruz is also being investigated for potential Human Trafficking charges.

He is currently being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail awaiting extradition back to Ohio.

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va (WFXR) – The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office says that a Mexican citizen wanted in Ohio for allegedly abducting a 15-year-old juvenile girl from Ohio, has been arrested.

According to the sheriff, on Feb 29, investigators assisted the FBI, Lynchburg PD, and deputies with the Ohio Butler County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation of Isauro Garcia Cruz of Mexico, who is believed to be an undocumented immigrant.

On March 4, the missing girl was found at a home on the 1200 block of Burnbridge Road in Forest, Va. Cruz was taken into custody without incident.

Cruz was wanted in Butler County Ohio for kidnapping, and abduction related to this case, as well as additional pending warrants for aggravated sexual battery of a minor relating to a separate incident.

He is currently being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority on a Fugitive from Justice warrant as well as an additional contributing to a minor warrant out of this jurisdiction.
