Metro Grand Rapids massage parlor owner faces prostitution charges

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The Kent County Sheriff’s Office says it busted a metro Grand Rapids massage parlor for operating as a front for prostitution.

The owner of Just Divine, a 44-year-old woman from Hamilton, was jailed on charges of keeping a house of prostitution, prostitution pandering, accepting earnings of prostitution and using a computer to commit a crime. Her name was not released pending arraignment.

The sheriff’s office says it raided Just Divine, which is on Plainfield Avenue near Coit Avenue in Plainfield Township, on Thursday following an undercover investigation.

The sheriff’s office says its Human Trafficking Task Force has been looking into Just Divine for months after getting a tip that it was a house of prostitution. It said it learned that the shop was one of the “highest attended massage parlors” in the county, with most of its clientele being men who came from around Michigan. It also said that while the business is licensed, it doesn’t have any licensed massage therapists working there.

The sheriff’s department said its Thursday search yielded more evidence of prostitution.
