Woman, 48, struck and killed by Metra train in Bartlett

BARTLETT, Ill. — A 48-year-old woman was struck and killed by a Metra train at the intersection of Western Avenue and Railroad Avenue in Bartlett, police confirmed Thursday morning.

The medical examiner has identified the victim as Lalji S. Chaudhari.

Bartlett police confirmed the incident on their X page (formerly Twitter). They said Metra police are on the scene investigating the incident and that the train crossing at Oak Avenue and Railroad Avenue remains open to traffic.

Metra, meanwhile, issued a service alert Thursday on its website, saying passengers should expect extensive delays near Bartlett on the MDW line.
