Mesa man arrested by Tempe police after admitting to recording women in bathroom

Tempe police booked a Mesa man into jail Saturday after they say he admitted to secretly recording women in a bathroom for over a year, according to a Tempe police probable cause report.

Jason Romo, 22, faces four felony charges of surreptitious recording after a witness found a phone hidden inside a box in the women's restroom where Romo worked, according to the police report.

Police arrested Romo at the office building where he worked and where the phone was found.

After his arrest, Romo allegedly admitted to recording co-workers and one roommate, telling police that he had messed up, the police report stated.

This was Romo's first arrest, according to the police report. He was booked into a Maricopa County jail but has since been released without bail. A preliminary hearing in his case has been scheduled for May 23 at the Maricopa County Superior Court.
