Mesa County car thefts less than rest of state

MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) — The Colorado State Patrol and Auto Theft Intelligence Coordination Center has released their annual report of the findings from auto theft incidents across Colorado. Over the last five years, auto theft has risen 62% in Colorado, with 32,976 vehicles being reported stolen in 2023.

But the statistics from Mesa County don’t reflect the rest of the state. The total number of auto thefts in Mesa County reported by the Sheriff’s Office in 2023 was 105, which is 24 less than in 2022 (129) and 85 less than in 2021 (190).
