Mercedes-Benz launches E-Class ‘Edition E’ at Rs 48.60 lakh

Mercedes-Benz has launched E-Class ‘Edition E’ at Rs 48.60 lakh (ex-showroom Pune). Built and designed to celebrate 20 years of the E-Class sedan being produced in India, this special model gets cosmetic updates and is available across all three engine options.

The E200, E250 CDI and E350 CDI ‘Edition E’ get special badging at the rear, illuminated front logo, special wheels, fibre-optic tail lamps and panoramic sunroof. In the cabin the special additions include Garmin navigation system, sporty pedals and high resolution colour display. The E350 CDI, in addition to these features, also gets active park assist with 360 degree camera, 14 speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system and rear seat entertainment package.

There are no changes to the mechanicals or underpinnings of all three cars. The E200 is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol mill that produces 184bhp/300Nm while the E250 CDI is powered by a 2.2-litre four-cylinder mill that produces 204bhp/500Nm. The E350 CDI is offered with a 3.0-litre V6 that produces 265bhp/620Nm of torque. All engines are offered with a seven-speed automatic transmission.

Commenting on the launch of the ‘Edition E’, Piyush Arora, executive director of operations, said “20 years of unhindered production of the E-Class, strongly underscores the high level of refinement and implementation of advanced technology and flexible processes in our production facility.” He added, “the E-Class’ production quality conforms to the most stringent global Mercedes-Benz standards and has been creating new benchmarks in the manufacturing of luxury cars in India.”
