Meow Chat review
Meow Chat allows you to chat with random people from around the globe, or to zero in on a specific region and chat with people in that area. The app allows you to set up a profile that includes likes, interests, and relationship status so that you can find compatible chat mates more easily. It links with your social media profiles on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr.
Pros
Easy setup: Meow Chat has a well-guided and straightforward setup. In less than two minutes after downloading the app you can already start sending your first chat messages, though you can spend time setting up a more detailed profile.
Great interface: This app looks great, having a distinct visual style and an interface for zeroing in on a target chat zone manually that works flawlessly; moreover, a basic house and airplane icon set allows you to either chat with people close to home, or in a random location, with a single click. Everything is very easy to read, and overall the navigation proves intuitive.
Cons
Intrusiveness: The app tries more than once during the setup process to persuade you to grant it access to your contacts, your Facebook account, and the photos on your device.
Lack of rule enforcement: In most locations that were tested, there was considerable advertising of websites and personal services in the available chat profiles. Also, although in the app's "rules" section it's stated that inappropriate behavior is not encouraged in the app, several NSFW images were displayed on the primary chat screen.
Bottom Line
Meow Chat suffers from some of the same problems that its random chat predecessors have had in terms of content and rule violations. That said, we must admit it works extremely well and allows you to chat with people from around the globe through a fun and easy-to-use interface.
