On the Menu: Irish Lion celebrates its 40th year as search for successor begins

The Irish Lion Restaurant and Pub announced Monday that as it celebrates its 40th year in business, its 80-year-old proprietor is beginning a search for a successor.

The search for a new owner will take time. The Irish Lion's owner expects the longtime management and staff to remain and the business to continue providing traditional Irish fare and spirits at 212 W. Kirkwood Ave., just off the courthouse square.

"It will be 'business as usual,'" a news release said. "Guests can expect the same traditional favorites as this gradual transition means there will be continuity at The Irish Lion."

Irish Lion will celebrate its 40th year throughout 2022. Upcoming specials, which include food at 1982 prices, and events will be mentioned online at https://www.irishlion.com/40th. The Irish Lion will host a social wall beginning in April for customers to share photos and memories.

Anyone wanting to inquire about owning the Irish Lion can contact Dave Miller of Comprehensive Business Brokers at 812-330-7566 or dmiller@compbb.com.

Hopscotch Kitchen opens

Hopscotch Kitchen is now open, with breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday through Sunday.

Hopscotch Kitchen is next to Hopscotch Coffee B-Line Cafe at 235 W. Dodds St. Customers can walk between the two.

For now, the food menu is limited but will be expanding in the next couple of weeks. Hopscotch already introduced its sourdough breads at the coffee shop and has other fermented foods as part of the sandwiches and other menu items.
