MENASHA - Wisconsin was already home to the best kids' and teen mullets in America.

Now, 23-year-old Menasha native Andy Forster has advanced to the final round of the USA Mullet Championships, giving the Badger State a chance at a clean sweep.

Several rounds of Facebook voting, judges' picks and mullet contests have whittled the field of 450 flowing manes down to 25 finalists. Forster was picked to advance to the finals thanks to contest judge Ashley Medina, a hairstylist from Lansing, Michigan, who showcases her mullet haircuts on TikTok.

Forster's mullet, nicknamed "Wisconsin Waterfall," started four years ago when he saw his college roommate rocking a similar hairstyle, according to his mother, Sandy Forster.

Now that he's made it this far into the contest, Sandy said for Andy, participating has been "great."

"We're having fun with it," she added. "We're telling everybody to vote."

Neighborhood bars have been getting into the excitement, too. In the previous round, the Prime Time Bar and Grill in Menasha encouraged its followers and patrons to vote for Andy and his mullet. Sandy said the bar is planning to help spread the word during the final round as well.

In order to win, Forster will need to garner the most votes on the contest website Oct. 7 to 11. The winner receives a $2,500 cash prize, and the top two finalists will each win a gift set.

Also representing Wisconsin in the final round is James Raflik from Cascade, a village half an hour southwest of Sheboygan.

You can view the contestants and vote once per day until Oct. 11 at mulletchamp.com.
