Men wanted for shooting at DC police officer charged with crimes in Prince George’s County

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — The Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) said two men wanted for shooting at a D.C. police officer face charges in Prince George’s County.

Officers arrested Rasheed Thorne, 21, and William Walker IV, 21, after the men’s car crashed in Landover, Md. on Monday.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), one of its captains was driving to work near 7th and Oglethorpe streets in Northwest D.C. shortly after noon on Monday. That’s when the captain noticed a car in front of him driving erratically.

The car suddenly stopped and at least one of the men got out and started shooting at the captain’s car, MPD Police Chief, Pamela Smith said at a news conference.

MPD said the men led police on a chase. MPD notified police in Prince George’s County about the pursuit which ended when the men crashed their car in the Kent Town Place and Route 202 area in Landover.

PGPD took them into custody at the scene of the crash. Officers said they recovered a gun nearby. The men face gun charges in Prince George’s County.
