In general, populist politicians avoid taking pictures in rooms made of gold.

But President-elect Donald Trump and Brexit leader Nigel Farage are not your average politicians.

Here are the two men smiling in a perfectly normal elevator at Trump Tower, New York City, over the weekend.

Farage wasn't caught by paparazzi in the illustrious golden elevator, but instead wilfully published the photo on his Twitter account.

Farage is the interim leader of the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP), which ran a campaign in favor of the UK leaving the European Union, also known as Brexit.

The hoi polloi on Twitter couldn't help but contrast the two politicians' populist messages with their flashy surroundings.

While the internet has tried to turn the picture into a meme, it hasn't quite taken off like Vice President Joe Biden planning hilarious White House pranks

Keep trying, Donald.
