Men facing aggravated assault charges

May 20—Two Odessa men were arrested on aggravated assault charges over the weekend in connection with a May 10 attack.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, an officer was flagged down by a woman on North John Ben Shepperd Parkway Boulevard around 9:30 p.m. May 10.

She told the officer she and the alleged victim were eating at Taboo when her husband, Noe Castillo-Renteria, and his uncle, Jose Garcia-Renteria, arrived, the report stated. She said the alleged victim was assaulted outside the restaurant and he ran away.

According to the report, the officer found the man with a head injury and he gave the same story. He further stated Castillo-Renteria and Garcia-Renteria chased him and when they caught up to him, continued to assault him. He said he was hit on the head with an unknown object.

The report indicates officers obtained video surveillance from Taboo and Quick Track that shows Castillo-Renteria brandishing what appears to be a gun at one point and both suspects having possible firearms at another point.

Warrants for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon were issued. Garcia-Renteria was arrested on May 17 and Castillo-Renteria was arrested on May 18.

Both men remained in the Ector County jail Monday on $25,000 surety bonds and Immigration and Customs Enforcement holds.
