Memphis weather: Wet weekend ahead for Mid-South

April showers are set to continue through the weekend with rain predicted almost every day.

Starting Thursday, rain will move into the area and continue to stick around into next week.

According to the National Weather Service, Memphis is expected to get about up to one and a half inches of rain over the next few days. Thursday has a 60% chance for rain in the afternoon which then moves into a 40% chance of thunderstorms in the evening.

Here's how much rain to expect for the next few days.

Heavy rain on Thursday in Memphis

According to the forecaster's discussion from the National Weather Service, "Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will be possible late this afternoon and evening, mainly to the north of Memphis. Following today`s brief cooldown, warmer and more humid conditions will spread into the Mid-South on Friday and persist through the weekend."

Five day forecast Memphis

Thursday has a 60% chance of precipitation for the day and a high of 72 degrees. Showers are likely after 4 p.m. This evening will have a 40% chance of thunderstorms before 11 p.m. and a low of 58 degrees.

Friday sees partly sunny skies and a high near 82 degrees. Friday evening will have a 20% chance of showers and a low near 67 degrees.

Saturday will have a 20% chance of rain after 1 p.m. Skies will be mostly sunny and the high will be near 84 degrees. The evening will have partly cloudy skies and a low near 65 degrees.

Sunday has a 20% chance of thunderstorms after 1 p.m. and a high near 82 degrees. The evening could see a 50% chance of thunderstorms and a low near 66 degrees.

Monday continues the rain with an 80% chance of rain and a high near 74. The evening will have a 50% chance of thunderstorms and a low near 62 degrees.
