Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Inc. purchases Hard Rock Cafe on Beale

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Music Hall of Fame and the Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum will soon have a new home on Beale Street.

Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Inc. announced Thursday they have purchased the Hard Rock Cafe located at 126 Beale.

As part of the sale, the building will be renamed the JW and Kathy Gibson Center of Memphis Music.

The Gibson family pledged part of the $5 million used to buy the building. They’re raising another $15 million to renovate the building to house both the Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum and the Hall of Fame.

“Memphis music is where the heart is,” said J.W. Gibson. “We have got to do more to support Memphis music and those who make it what it is.”
