What Memphis Grizzlies guard Luke Kennard said about his shoulder injury, status for Game 6

Memphis Grizzlies guard Luke Kennard left Game 5 of the series against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday with a stinger in his left shoulder in the second half. He was listed as doubtful to return and was eventually spotted on the bench with a wrap around his left shoulder.

"I just got a stinger out there," Kennard said after the game. "Getting it looked at tomorrow, trying to find out a little more, but it's all good right now."

Kennard said he ran into a screen and his arm got caught on the play. Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins said he kept Kennard out for precautionary reasons. Kennard mentioned that if it was necessary, he maybe could have returned, but he wasn't certain.

This isn't the first time Kennard has suffered a stinger, he said. He added that this injury was different, and he does have motion in his shoulder despite it being sore.

The Grizzlies will evaluate Kennard's shoulder on Thursday ahead of Friday's Game 6 in Los Angeles (9:30 p.m., ESPN, Bally Sports Southeast).

"I'll do whatever I can to try and get it right for Friday," Kennard said.
