Memorial Day services planned in Muncie, Redkey, Eaton

MUNCIE, Ind. — On Monday, May 27, Beech Grove Cemetery will host the 152nd annual Memorial Day service in the American Legion section of the historic cemetery.

Monday's service will include music, multiple speakers, the placing of the memorial wreath, and a rifle salute and taps by the Delaware County Honor Guard, according to a news release.

Music will be performed by America’s Hometown Band, The event will begin at 10:45 a.m., with the main service beginning at 11 a.m.

In other communities:

REDKEY: Memorial Day services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at Claycomb Cemetery, at 10 a.m. at the Redkey War Mothers Memorial Monument, and at 11:15 a.m. at Hilcrest Cemetery.

Jaima Bonvillian Logan of the Redkey Ladies Auxiliary will present the memorial wreath and cross.

Officiating with be offered by James D. Fulks III, past commander of American Legion Post 401.

EATON: A Memorial Day service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel at Union Cemetery, 16301 N. Ind. 3.

Local U.S. Navy veteran Michael Scott Johnson will be honored. There will also be a reading of the names of all veterans buried since last Memorial Day.

The Delaware County Honor Guard will participate, with Janie Adams laying the wreath at the cemetery's Veterans Monument.

Pastor Mark Wilkerson will be the guest speaker, with an opening prayer offered by another pastor, Nancy Cole-Hunt.
