New Memorial Day parade route in Elmira. What to know about changes.
The City of Elmira's annual Memorial Day Parade will take a new route this year.
The parade route will now start at Park Place heading north, take a left onto Washington Avenue heading west down to Davis Street, and take a right onto Davis Street heading north all the way to the Woodlawn Cemetery Entrance off Davis Street.
The change is due to ongoing construction work on College Avenue between Washington Avenue and Roe Avenue.
The National Weather Service's early forecast for the holiday in the Elmira area calls for showers and possibly a thunderstorm. The Weather Service estimates a 70% chance of rain in the early forecast. Temperatures will be pleasant, though, with a high near 78 degrees.

Memorial Day honors all military members who died serving in the U.S. armed forces. The holiday always falls on the last Monday of May.
