Memorial Day ceremony at the Bakersfield National Cemetery

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Several ceremonies taking place around Kern County this weekend will honor those who served our country with dignity & honor.

The Department of Veterans Affairs will host a Memorial Day ceremony at the Bakersfield National Cemetery on May 25, at 9 a.m. A wreath-laying ceremony, speeches, and a moment of silence will take place in remembrance of those who served. Brent Williams of CSUB will also play Taps at the ceremony.

The hour-long ceremony will also include a “Presentation of Colors” and a rifle salute by the Bear Valley Springs Veterans Association Honor Guard. Patriotic Music will be played by the Bakersfield High School Band and the National Anthem is set to be performed by Eric Dyer.

Flag placement will be taking place following the ceremony and the public is encouraged to participate.
