Memorial Day 2024: Events and activities on tap across the Grand Strand and Pee Dee

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Memorial Day is a time to remember those who died while serving in the U.S. military, and there are many events scheduled across the Grand Strand and Pee Regions during the holiday weekend. News13 will update this list as more functions are confirmed.

Conway

May 27

  • American Legion Horry Post 111 will hold a Memorial Day ceremony at 11 a.m. at 3003 Highway 701 N.

Florence

May 27

  • Florence National Cemetery will host its annual Memorial Day ceremony at 10 a.m. Col. Erika Perry, commander of the 218th Regional Training Institute, is guest speaker.

Georgetown

May 27

  • VFW Post 6444 and American Legion Post 114 host Memorial Day observance at 10 a.m. at 715 Church St., Georgetown County Veterans Memorial.

Myrtle Beach

May 25

  • Military Appreciation Days Parade at Valor Memorial Park. Parade steps off at 10:30 a.m. along Farrow Parkway, with more than 40 participants expected. A community picnic follows, with live music from “Julio and the Saltines” and demonstrations from the Myrtle Beach Police Department’s K-9 unit.

May 27

  • Jack Platt veterans’ march with battlefield cross ceremony begins at 9 a.m. along Ocean Boulevard, from 16th to 9th Avenues N.

  • Memorial Day remembrance ceremony at 11 a.m., Myrtle Beach Convention Center

  • Screening of “Against All Odds: The Jim Dozier Story” at 2 p.m., Grand 14 Cinema

May 28

  • Festive Brass Concert performance at 7 p.m., Ballroom ABC, Myrtle Beach Convention Center

Murrells Inlet

May 26

  • 11th annual Brookgreen Gardens Memorial Day 5K, starts at 6 p.m. Runners can wear the names of veterans and get bibs that represent various branches of the military.

Surfside Beach

May 27

  • Annual Memorial Day golf cart parade begins at 11 a.m.

  • Memorial Day ceremony at 2 p.m., Memorial Park
