'It melts our hearts': Viral video shows baby sloth that fell from tree being reunited with mom

It's past Mother's Day, but that didn't stop an animal rescue center in Costa Rica from sharing a heartwarming video of a reunion between a mother sloth and her baby, which had fallen from a tree.

Since May 14 when the Jaguar Rescue Center in Limon, Costa Rica, posted a video of the reunion on Facebook, more than 21 million have watched it. The baby three-toed sloth was found May 10 on the ground near the Playa Chiquita beach.

The baby's mom was climbing higher into the trees, so a staffer "brought the baby for a check-up with the vet," the center said in its post. "The sloth was healthy and didn't have any injuries."

Before returning the baby to its mom, the center's staff recorded the baby's cry and then "played it near the tree to get the mom's attention (and) we waited patiently until the mom came down for the baby," its post reads.

In the video you can see the mother sloth slowly make its way down the tree and then get a hug onto its baby as a staffer holds the baby up.
