Melania Trump turned 47 on Wednesday, and she celebrated her birthday in Washington, D.C., clad in navy blue.

The first lady attended the Senate spouses luncheon at the National Gallery of Art wearing a navy coatdress cinched with a brown belt (possibly made from alligator skin). She wore her hair in loose waves around her shoulders.

FLOTUS gave a speech during the luncheon and was joined by second lady Karen Pence, who recently shared her struggles with infertility in an interview with the Federalist, along with wives of her husband’s Cabinet members. According to a story published by CNN, Melania did not wish to include birthday dessert on the luncheon menu. However, her spokesperson Stephanie Grisham said, Melania plans to celebrate her birthday privately with President Trump on Wednesday evening.

Grisham recently spoke out in response to a controversial Vanity Fair story titled “Inside the Trump marriage: Melania’s Burden.”

Calling the piece a “false story,” Grisham told HuffPost, “Mrs. Trump is a loving wife and mother who has always put her family first, and that will not change. She is an independent woman who believes in our country, and continues her plans to serve as First Lady with integrity and dedication.”

The story included claims that Melania and stepdaughter Ivanka Trump have a “frosty” relationship and that Melania is unhappy in her role as first lady and in her marriage to Donald Trump.

On Wednesday, Melania thanked her supporters on Instagram, adding that she was “delighted to be the guest of honor” for the day.
