The Trumps arrived back in Washington D.C. on a windy Sunday afternoon following a weekend away at Trump's National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. First lady Melania was all business for the short flight aboard Air Force One, opting for a simple navy stripped shirt dress by Polo Ralph Lauren. The dress, which featured two slits and a form-fitting high-waisted belt, has a $400 price tag, though it's currently on sale for $200, according to the designer's website.

FLOTUS paired the ensemble with her go-to sunglasses and a pair of sky-high navy $625 Manolo Blahnik stilettos, which she owns in a variety of colors.

Following her sartorial show in Europe last week, which included a $3,700 Gucci jacket, $7500 Elie Saab midi dress and shell pink-Dior skirtsuit to meet Queen Elizabeth, Melania's selection of the more affordable Ralph Lauren getup comes as an unexpected choice.

It's no surprise that the first lady, the wife of the wealthiest US president in history, has been struggling to find her fashion "sweet spot." Since the year-and-a-half since President Trump took office, Melania, 48, has been veering away from the super luxurious items, like the $52,000 Dolce & Gabbana jacket she sported at Italy's G7 summit, occasionally opting for $75 shirts from J. Crew, $50 Converse sneakers and now, this $200 Ralph Lauren dress.

It's a brilliant approach that former First Lady Michelle Obama mastered while in the White House, a message that Melania has been seen emulating in the more recent months.
