Melania Trump isn’t wanted in New York, at least by some residents! A petition created at Change.Org has nearly 105,000 signatures from New Yorkers who refuse to have their tax dollars pay the $1 million per day protection cost it would require for Melania to remain in Manhattan after her husband moves out of Trump Tower. She’s not moving to the White House in Washington, D.C. until at least after June. Donald and Melania Trump’s 10-year-old son, Barron, won’t finish his current year of school until late spring 2017.

Soon after the announcement came that Melania and Barron would remain in New York City following the inauguration, it was also disclosed that security for them would be very expensive. Secret Service agents and several NYPD officers will be assigned to Melania and Barron Trump during their stay in New York. Their every move will involve heavy protection and will disrupt local activity and snarl traffic.

According to the Change.Org petition, it asks New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio to refuse to pay for Donald Trump’s wife to stay in New York after he becomes president. Residents signing the petition are letting it be known they don’t want their tax money paying for Melania’s protection after Donald moves out of Trump Tower.
