Megyn Kelly Wants $20 Million for New Contract with Fox News

Megyn Kelly hosts one of Fox News’ most popular shows, and now that she’s in the midst of contract negotiations, her decision to stay at the network will come at a price.

The host of The Kelly File, who changed agents and publicity teams since last year, is reportedly in active talks over her Fox contract. The Wall Street Journal. reports that Kelly hopes to upgrade her current deal, which expires next July, to an average annual salary north of $20 million for her next contract, which would put her earnings on par with fellow Fox News host Bill O’Reilly.

Though if it were up to Rupert Murdoch, chief executive of Fox News and co-executive chairman of its parent company, 21st Century Fox, she wouldn’t be going anywhere.

“It’s up to her,” he told the outlet, but added that there are other talented hosts who could step in. “We have a deep bench of talent, many of whom would give their right arm for her spot.”

Murdoch added that he is kept up to date on the contract talks “every minute of the day.”

While Kelly continues to be in contract talks, the 45-year-old will appear alongside Kelly Ripa on Nov. 9, one day after the 2016 election, as co-host of Live with Kelly.

A Fox spokesman had no further comment on Kelly’s contract negotiations.
