Meghan Markle's new royal bio barely mentions her acting career

Hours after marrying Prince Harry on Saturday, Meghan Markle was added to the official royal family website. But one detail was notably missing.

Though the main entry describes the newly titled Duchess of Sussex’s charity work, her career as an actress has been seriously downplayed, with no mention of her role in the hit TV series Suits.

The site lists her experience volunteering in soup kitchens as a child and a young adult in Los Angeles, before casually dropping that she continued to volunteer at a Canadian soup kitchen “while filming in Toronto.”

For details of her acting credentials, including a note of her role in Suits, fans will have to click to the duchess’s biography page.

“After university Her Royal Highness worked as an actress, appearing in film and television,” the biography reads.

“She most notably played the role of Rachel Zane on the series Suits for seven seasons, completing over 100 episodes.”

This particular part of her newly created page also mentions her now-shutdown lifestyle blog, The Tig.

That her successful acting career isn’t mentioned on the main part of her royal page hasn’t gone unnoticed.

“Am I the only person who is sad that the new Duchess of Sussex’s official web page barely mentions her acting career?” royal expert Victoria Murphy tweeted.

“She spent 15 years grafting in a competitive industry. Surely this is something to be celebrated and deserves more than half a sentence.”

“I don’t appreciate the fact that Meghan Markle’s page on the royal family website fails to mention her acting career,” another fan wrote on Twitter. “She has spent over a decade acting and that should be given more attention.”

But while some were concerned about the message that glossing over the duchess’s acting career could send, others were thrilled that Markle’s feminist credentials were notably celebrated.

Besides her work with the homeless, the site prominently detailed Markle’s involvement with One Young World, World Vision, and UN Women, including her mission trip to Rwanda.

It also gave a prominent nod to her women-centric beliefs by displaying her quote “I am proud to be a woman and a feminist” boldly in the center of the page.

Many fans were quick to approve.
