Meghan Markle reunites with mom Doria Ragland to celebrate cookbook launch

While plenty of Meghan Markle‘s other relatives have been in the news, her mother, Doria Ragland, has kept a low profile since the royal wedding on May 19.

But that all changed Thursday when she popped up in London to help her daughter mark the launch of the new cookbook Together: Our Community Kitchen. The duchess wrote the book’s foreword after making secret visits to London’s Hubb Community Kitchen, where women have gathered to feed local residents reeling from last year’s fatal Grenfell Tower fire.

Prince Harry joined the mother and daughter for the launch at Kensington Palace, which the newlyweds call home. According to ITV News royal editor Chris Ship, Ragland, who lives in Southern California, introduced herself to guests as “Meg’s mum” and looked on proudly as her daughter told attendees about the “tremendous labor of love” behind the cookbook.

The outing marks Ragland’s first official royal engagement since the wedding, and she looked the part in an apricot ensemble of matching slacks, a long-sleeve top, and a pashmina shawl.

Meghan, meanwhile, proved once again that cobalt is her color of choice for the fall. The royal followed up the bright blue Jason Wu dress she wore earlier in the month with a Smythe coat in the exact same shade. The Canadian label’s peak-lapel coat costs $1,195 and was paired with a sleeveless black turtleneck by Tuxe and the $250 pleated Saturday Skirt designed by pal Misha Nonoo.
