Meghan Markle and Queen Elizabeth are hitting the road for a joint royal appearance

Meghan Markle is set to go on her debut royal engagement without Prince Harry in tow. Luckily, she’ll have Queen Elizabeth II to show her the ropes.

According to the royal family’s official website, the Duchess of Sussex — we’re still getting used to calling her that — will join Her Majesty on their first joint public engagement on June 14.

The pair are planning a road trip to Chester, England, where they will unveil Mersey Gateway Bridge in Widnes before officially opening the Storyhouse theater — a fitting engagement for a former actress.

Following a busy day of regal duties, the queen and her new granddaughter-in-law will later enjoy a well-deserved spot of lunch at Chester’s town hall. Oh, to be a fly on the wall.

Though it will mark their first joint engagement, the royal duo have attended a handful of events together in recent months. They were first photographed on Christmas Day last year alongside other senior members of the family at their Sandringham home, followed by Meghan’s appearance at the Commonwealth Day service back in April.

It is widely speculated that the duchess and her new husband are currently on their honeymoon in Canada, though the newlyweds could soon be flying home in time for Saturday’s Trooping the Colour event in honor of the queen’s birthday.
