Becoming a fully-fledged royal comes with a lot of restrictions, as Meghan Markle can obviously attest to, after she gave up her acting career when she became engaged to Prince Harry.

But the Duchess - who is three months pregnant - has revealed that it's actually been 'freeing' to give up one particular thing, after joining Britain's most famous family.

During the royal couple's 16-day tour of Australia, Harry and Meghan met with surfing community group OneWave on Sydney’s Bondi Beach, during which the 37--year-old former actress spoke about her experience of quitting Instagram and Twitter.

Local resident Jessina Oakes disclosed details of her chat with Meghan, telling Hello!: 'She said a really beautiful quote. She said, "flattery and criticism run through the same filter".

'She said it was very freeing that she no longer has social media. And just how great One Wave is making those connections with people and being able to support one another.'

Along with her social media accounts, Meghan also gave up her lifestyle blog The Tig three years after its launch. The website included details of Meghan's favourite recipes, gift ideas, and her interviews with inspirational people.

'Above all, don't ever forget your worth - as I've told you time and time again: you, my sweet friend, you are enough,' Meghan signed off in a message to fans and followers.

Meanwhile, the Duchess has also spoken about her pregnancy symptoms and how she's handling them during her hectic tour.

Local Charlotte Connell - who is also expecting - was chatting with Meghan and told Sky News: 'Meghan told me that pregnancy was like having jet lag.

'She said she was up at 4:30 a.m. this morning doing yoga in her room as she couldn’t sleep.'

Let's hope she puts her feet up and gets some rest before her next stop in New Zealand.
