Mega Millions mystery winners hit top prizes in NC. Do they know? Check your ticket.

Two Mega Millions players in North Carolina won top prizes in Friday’s drawing, N.C. lottery officials said Saturday, but do they know they won?

Officials urged everyone to check their tickets, as the winners remained a mystery.

A player online scored a $20,000 prize, and someone is $10,00 the better on a ticket sold at the Harris Teeter at 13686 Capital Blvd. in Wake Forest, officials said.

The winning numbers were 1, 9, 16, 17 and 30. The Megaball number drawn was 17.

Powerball winner

The winning tickets in the Mega Millions drawing followed news on Friday of a $100,000 Powerball winner.

Mount Holly resident Julian Macaulay bought his $3 Power Play ticket online, lottery officials said.

He matched the four white balls and red Powerball to win $50,000 in the Jan. 10 drawing, according to a lottery news release. The amount doubled when the 2X multiplier hit, officials said.

He beat odds of 1 in 1.8 million, according to the Powerball game page.

Macaulay claimed his prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Thursday. After taxes, he took home $71,501, according to the lottery.

Saturday’s jackpot stood at $120 million as an annuity and $59.4 million in cash, according to the Powerball page on The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.

Mega Millions jackpot, odds

The jackpot in Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing stands at $262 million.

The odds of matching the five numbers and the Megaball to win the jackpot are 1 in 302.5 million.

The odds of winning $1 million by matching the five numbers drawn are 1 in 12.6 million.

Players win $10,000 by matching four of the balls and the Megaball. Those odds are 1 in 931,000.

Lucky for Life winners

In Friday’s Lucky for Life drawing, two players won $5,000 each, according to the lottery.

One ticket was sold at the Union Cross BP at 1557 Union Cross Road in Kernersville.

Someone bought the other winning ticket at QuickTrip, 5755 Highway 49 South in Harrisburg, officials said.

The odds of matching the four balls and the Lucky Ball to win $5,000 are 1 in 143,356.
