Mega Millions jackpot is up to an estimated $555 million, and next drawing is coming up

EDITOR'S NOTE: This story has been updated to reflect the latest estimated jackpot.

The Mega Millions jackpot has risen to an estimated $555 million, with the next drawing set to take place Tuesday night.

There were no tickets sold that matched all five numbers and the Mega Ball from Friday's drawing, and the cash prize option has risen to $316.9 million before taxes. If a ticket matches all of the numbers Tuesday, the estimated jackpot will be the fifth-largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won.

Tuesday’s draw could produce the largest jackpot win since Jan. 22, 2021, when a Michigan lottery club won just over $1 billion. The current jackpot hasn’t been claimed since April 15, and the drawing will be the 27th since then.

A 73-year-old retired veteran from Elkton, Maryland, won $1 million from the Mega Millions drawing on May 24. He bought his second-tier-winning ticket, which matched all five white balls but missed the Mega Ball, at the Star Gas Mart in Rising Sun, Maryland.

In Delaware, 17 co-workers at a manufacturing facility in Newark claimed a $1 million Mega Millions prize from the May 18, 2021, drawing. Their winning ticket also matched all five numbers but missed the Mega Ball number. They bought their ticket at the Shop Rite of Four Seasons in Glasgow.
